When people compare Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World, they usually focus on the parks, hotels, rides and overall experience. But there is another important factor that can make a huge difference to your holiday:
How easy is it to actually get there? ✈️
Having travelled to both destinations several times, I think the journey is something that is often overlooked. Walt Disney World is an amazing experience, and thanks to direct flights from the UK it is easier to reach than many people think.
However, Disneyland Paris has one major advantage: choice.
Whether you want to fly from a local airport, take the train, or even drive, there are far more ways to get to Paris from the UK.

✈️ Flying to Walt Disney World
For UK visitors, Orlando is one of the easiest long-haul destinations to reach.
Direct flights are available from:
🇬🇧 Manchester
🇬🇧 London Heathrow
🇬🇧 London Gatwick
Seasonal services may also operate from airports such as Edinburgh, depending on the time of year.
The main airlines offering direct flights include:
✈️ Virgin Atlantic
✈️ British Airways
✈️ TUI Airways (seasonally)
The flight takes around 8.5 hours, with most flights leaving the UK in the morning and arriving in Florida during the afternoon because of the five-hour time difference.
Personally, I almost always fly Virgin Atlanric from Manchester when travelling to Orlando. Living in Bolton, Manchester Airport is only around a 40 minute drive away, making it a very convenient option for me.
I have also flown from London Gatwick with British Airways, but for me the extra journey down to London adds more time and planning compared with simply travelling to Manchester.
It really shows how much your location in the UK can influence which Disney destination feels easiest to reach.
For families who don’t live close to Manchester or London, travelling to Orlando can become more complicated. You may need to drive several hours, book an airport hotel the night before or arrange additional travel before you even start the long-haul flight.
The flight itself is straightforward, but there is no escaping that Florida is a big journey from the UK.
🇫🇷 Flying to Disneyland Paris
This is where Disneyland Paris has a huge advantage.
Paris is one of Europe’s busiest travel hubs, meaning there are far more direct flights available from the UK compared with Orlando.
Depending on the season, you can often fly direct from:

The flight time is only around 1.30 hours, making it a much shorter journey compared with Florida.
There is also a much wider choice of airlines, including:

One thing that surprised me was the cost difference between airlines. Before flying with Air France, I assumed it would be considerably more expensive than easyJet.
However, when I compared prices, I found there often wasn’t much difference at all. Depending on your dates, a full-service airline can sometimes be a very competitive option.

🛫 Why Smaller Airports Make Disneyland Paris Easier
One of the biggest benefits of travelling to Paris is the choice of airports.
Although Manchester is my closest airport, if I am travelling to Paris I would often choose Liverplol Airport instead.
For me, Liverpool is a much more relaxed airport experience. It is smaller, easier to navigate and usually means less time spent walking through terminals or waiting around.
This is something that can make a big difference, especially for families with young children. When travelling to Orlando, many UK families are limited to the main airports offering direct flights.
With Paris, you have a much better chance of finding a direct flight from an airport closer to home.
That extra flexibility can save time, reduce stress and make the whole holiday feel easier before you’ve even left the UK.
🚗 Driving to Paris
One of the biggest advantages Disneyland Paris has over Walt Disney World is that flying isn’t your only option.
Many UK families choose to drive, giving them complete flexibility over when they travel and how much they pack.
You can cross the Channel using:
🚗 LeShuttle (formerly Eurotunnel) – around 30 minutes
⛴️ Dover to Calais ferry – around 90 minutes
From there, it is a straightforward drive through France using well-signposted motorways. Just remember that French motorways have tolls, so it is worth including these in your travel budget.
Driving is especially popular with larger families, as you don’t have to worry about baggage allowances or squeezing everything into a suitcase.
It also gives you the flexibility to travel at your own pace, something that simply isn’t possible when visiting Walt Disney World.
🚆 Taking the Eurostar
I’ve also travelled to Paris using the Eurostar, and it is another option that makes Disneyland Paris feel very accessible.
The journey from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord takes just over 2 hours.
I found it a very straightforward way to travel. There is no need to deal with airline baggage restrictions, and the whole experience feels much more relaxed compared with flying.
For anyone who lives within easy reach of London, or simply prefers not to fly, the Eurostar is another great option that isn’t available when visiting Walt Disney World.

⭐ Which Destination Is Easier to Reach?
Having travelled to both destinations, I think the difference is clear.
I love visiting Walt Disney World, and because I live close to Manchester, getting there is relatively easy for me. A direct Virgin Atlantic flight makes the journey simple.
However, it is still a long-haul trip that requires more planning and a full day of travelling.
Disneyland Paris offers much more flexibility.
I can fly from different airports, choose between full-service airlines and budget carriers, take the Eurostar or even drive.
Being able to choose the option that works best for my family, budget and schedule is a huge advantage.

🏰 Walt Disney World may offer the bigger Disney experience, but when it comes to getting there from the UK, Disneyland Paris is the clear winner.
It is quicker, easier and gives families far more options to start their Disney adventure.
