If you are visiting from the UK for the first time, mobile ordering can feel a little strange at first. It is very different from how quick service restaurants used to work at Disney, and honestly, it sometimes feels more like ordering takeaway food than sitting down for a Disney meal.
🥨 Your food often arrives in paper bags with a sticker showing your name, especially in the Disney resorts where they assume you may be taking it back to your room or eating by the pool. However, although it does lose a little bit of that “Disney magic” feeling, it’s incredibly useful during busy park days with kids.

Some of the most popular restaurants can quickly move to much later collection times during busy periods. We got into the habit of checking mobile order times well in advance, especially if we knew we wanted to eat somewhere popular later in the day.
This was particularly important before evening shows like Fantasmic when crowds start building quickly at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
If you wait until everybody is already starving, you may find the next available slot is much later than you hoped.

If you order alcohol through mobile ordering, Disney Cast Members may ask to see ID before handing it over, they will not simply leave alcoholic drinks for collection with the rest of the order, so make sure one adult has photo ID available, preferably both as many places in Orlando will only let you buy one alcoholic beverage per person.

Honestly… a little bit, yes.
There is definitely more of a casual “takeaway” feeling to some quick service meals now.
The paper bags, stickers with your name on, and app-based ordering can feel less immersive than the old-style Disney quick service experience.
We noticed this especially in Disney resorts, where many guests were clearly taking food back to rooms or pools.
However, for busy family park days, the convenience absolutely outweighed that for us.
